Notably missing is the New Year's Eve playoff game, which is absent from the 2026-27 schedule.
Since New Year's Eve falls on a Thursday this year, competition from the NFL has forced the committee to hold one game on Wednesday, December 30, while three games are played on New Years Day.
By 2046, the CFP Final will end around midnight on June 30, leaving a few short hours of offseason before the 2047 season kickoff on July 1 in Dubai.

One thing is clear: the college football calendar won't be shortened anytime soon.
